Parts to Replace (engine out/gearbox detached)

Hi Guys,

any suggestions as to which parts I should look to replace whilst my engine is out of the bay and the gearbox is detached.

I am currently buying the following.

- Crank Pulley

- New Pre-facelift Mounts (VVTI Engine)

- Oil Pump

- Water Pump

- Cam Cover Gaskets

- Cam Cover Breather Pipes

- Front and Rear Crank Seals

- Pilot Bearing

- Core Plugs

- Coil Pack Looms and Clips

- V160 Gear Oil

- Full Gasket Set

- Timing Star

- CP Bolt

I am thinking more along the lines of Seals etc, should I look to replace these, they are not leaking but the engine has covered around 80k, so perhaps a refresh would be a good idea?

Also which items, with regards to the gearbox, should I look to be replacing? Rear seal, Pilot Baring? etc.

The Box in question is the V161.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the input guys, I will update your input on the list in post one.

Geo I am not going to be opening up the engine as it seems to be working fine (compression is spot on) and I don't envisage running a great more than BPU on this engine. More of a OEM overhaul.

I think I will add new turbo link pipes to the equation, and some cam breather pipes. I ordered a new Alternator also, and will keep the working unit as a back up.

Am I worth replacing the gear box mount?

*Crank seal front and rear

*New OEM Oil Pump

*New OEM Water Pump

*New OEM Timing Kit with Gates belts and OEM tensioner pulley.

*New OEM Tensioner Ram

*New OEM Crank Sprocket

*New OEM Crank Pulley

*New OEM Crank Pulley Bolt

*Various OEM Gaskets

*New Lower Sump (it had a small dent in it which annoys me from last year)

*Cam Cover Gaskets and Washers-sealant for the corners

*Turbo link pipes

*Re-plumb entire turbo vac system with rubber hose (dont make the mistake I made using silicone)

*New Engine Mounts

*Cam Cover Breather Pipes

*Spark Plugs

*Coil Pack Looms and Clips

My engine also has just over 60k on but I had an issue with my oil pump which highlighted some hidden nasties.

There is plenty more bits and pieces as you go I ended up replacing every pipe on the engine with Toyota ones.

If I could go back It would be 100% more cost efficient to buy a full engine gasket kit and use as I require its surprising how much more they are separate.

Thanks Matt, I will look into the gasket set and the crank sprocket and crank pulley bolt.

Just in case you're not aware, if you are fitting pre-facelift engine mounts on a VVTi engine you'll also need to source the pre-facelift brackets so that they'll fit.

Hey Nic, I already have the pre-facelift brackets thanks , I also believe that I need to order a different sized bolt for one of the mounts on the off side, as the facelift brackets has a slighlty longer one as standard. Am I right or am I getting mixed up?

Cheers for posting this thread Sunny saved me starting another!

Was going to ask something similar for when the car's off the road over winter, but i'll just steal all the nice info that's in here :)

No worries bud, that's what these thread are all about ;)

How much were the pre-facelift mounts if you don't mind me asking Sunny?
