Indicator legality

Evening all.

Recently fitted my new bumper and currently have my indicators basically hidden and cable tied just behind the mesh in the grille.

They are plenty bright enough (if not brighter) but I'm wondering is it strictly legal for me to have them like this?

Can't see them in this picture but they are just behind the mesh of the central section, towards the outer edges;

Cheers

From MOT UK :-

1. Operate the direction indicators on each side in turn and check the colour, flash rate and is not obscurred, ,Check that the illumination of the indicators is not affected by the operation of any other lamp. Each Lamp must emit an amber light, except vehicles first used before 1 September 1965 where both front indicators may be white and both rear indicators red.

Note: At least 50%

of light sources within a lamp must illuminate

2. Operating the indicators see that the operation of each front indicator is readily visible from the riding position or that the 'tell tale' is operating correctly.

Reckon I'll be ok based on that then mate.

Just need to get some amber bulbs and it's sorted.

I know what you're saying masterfett, I think this may actually be beneficial as they are brighter now than when in the indicator units. I might go through bulbs a little quicker though!

Right at the bottom of the page there are diagrams explaining the regulations, i think the 80 degrees outwards part is where you have the problem if i'm reading the info correctly

I see what you mean.

Essentially to get that sort of angle they are going to have to be out in front like stock bumpers have them.

Will have a rethink, could just be that I'll get away with it - they are hopefully bright enough for a police officer to not worry about angles etc
