silver supra project

now i have membership i have decided to actually sit down and start a project thread rather than filling up my new member one.

i recently bought a 1993 supra 2JZ-GE import as a project car (24/5/2014)

it looks a little unloved, but going to give it a really good service, a good clean and made into a track toy,

i have helped build a Robin Hood Zero with a 2.0 zetec engine so i know something to a point

supra :

prior to viewing

this made it from London back to Selby with no issues !!! and drove perfect except for a hole in exhaust, but couldn't complain

so first thing first was out with the sub build to begin stripping car

my mates being mates being how they are came to view my purchase and mock for spotting the oil filter

hoped they wouldn't notice the old halfords logo from like 5 years ago !!!

so a good service is needed, ordered oil filter (not halfords brand lol)

new spark plus, cleaning kit for air filter, just oil to get next.

the car had a new radiator fitted, but since the oil filter was crap i thought i'd double check the radiator and it was near enough empty !!!

so thats filled up and sorted

car came with a HKS Silent exhaust system and apexi air filter and pipe

was driving it the other week and my temp gauage kinda jumped instantly from nothing to this

thought S***, so had to be checked out so opened bonnet to find out that first, the radiator wasn't done correctly and my water bump decided to steam

which explained all the crap on the alternator

after i got it home, sorted radiator out and since then the steam isn't happening, BUT replacement pump part is ordered, better playing that safe.

i then thought i'd do a few little bits so cleaned the exhaust and a mate brought some cutting compound and made my yellow headlights clear again

now was time to a service, but it gave rain so gazebo went up and removed exhaust (was hanging at cat) so removed so i could actually get on the drive.

since after decat pipe, car was STILL blowing, took it down to farm to have some nice quiet space to find the fault, wasn't a happy chappy when i found the problem a cat pipe had snapped.

had been getting louder all time i was driving, so time to dismantle and attempt to fix it

all welded up and sounds FAR nicer not perfect but waiting for a friend to go over it to make it perfect

also sat in the rear leathers for first time, i have legs so couldn't fit in them when they where is the car :/

but since they are soooo comfy these are being made into a sofa for living room and the miss's approves

so after complaining about a blown pipe for a while i ordered new pipe is ordered, not oem but some nice samco in purple, so getting a little bit of colour to the engine bay, here on Thursday and to cheer myself up i accidentally bought some new alloys for now i have bought Asuka Racing ST15, 18's, require new tyres but they shall be ordered soon

adjustable pulleys - silly cheap price, before anyone says it, i just did 4 and a half hours straigh drive, no slips then a 10 hour drive other day with no slip

was my birthday a few days ago so the miss's got a me a little photo shoot of my car for me so after many layers of polish and wax, we popped down to Sherburn areo club to take a few pictures

went to Goodwood race circuit as bought the miss's a mustand experience (her dream car)

at the camp site had to park on a steepish hill and turned out my handbrake wouldn't hold so had to leave it in gear and it slighty started to slide so had a log as a brake

miss's dream car is a mustang gt so me being me got her 66' mustang and a 2005 mustang GT so she could see the difference in the old skool and new skool, to my job she enjoyed the slower 66's mustang due less driving aids

also found out my girlfriend is quite a aggressive but good drive she overtook everything and instructor came and found me to tell me he didn't have to explain anything she hit all apex's perfect so i was a happy boy, i have taught her well lol
