Hi Guys
I have just purchased an Alpine 9835R stereo over the web. I havent received it as yet, and while reading some info on the internet regarding the unit was abit concerned about the power to it.

Does anyone know if this unit will be compatable with my Supra Import? I heard that some units need an upgrading of cables, etc for them to work properly without burning out anything....is this true!?!

As you can probably tell I have no idea what the score is with connections so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Does anyone have this unit or similar that can give me any tips?

Thanks guys

Nick

1st advice, post in the stereo section, this is the wrong area.

2nd advice, the only cables that will need upgrading are the ones to interface the headunit into the supra wiring. You can get them from any Halfrauds store, if you search the ICE section, you will be able to find the correct wiring harness adaptor. You can also find the single slot DIN convertor plate numbers. Also available from any Halfrauds store.

Okay...

The only thing you need to make sure of with the alpine, is that it has a high current power supply... it is labelled up. I would suggest wiring this to a main feed, either the amp power lead or directly to the battery (thru a fuse unit)...

The rest of wires should be fine.

Okay thanks guys, and apologies for not posting this in the correct section! I didnt spot the stereo section.

I will speak to Halfords and get something sorted.

I've just got my Alpine 9833R from Matt Harwood and I'll be fitting it when I finish installing the speakers.

The instruction manual applies to both the 9833 and 9835. The wiring loom with the unit has a inline fuse of 15A which I don't think it will go anywhere near.

The power in the car will have a fused supply anyhow which will protect the wiring!

Excellent - thanks for the info Merchx!

Just out of interest - how much did you pay for your 9833R? if you dont mind me asking

£275 , I could have got it a few pounds cheaper on EBay but preferred to buy it from a reputable source - Matt Harwood
