Mk4Gaz Posted June 18, 2014 Share Posted June 18, 2014 What grit wet and dry, and did you use soapy water with it? Either way, it'll need machine polishing to bring the gloss back. By way of a proper polisher, or the type that attaches to a drill. You'll need cutting compound, such as g3 or g10 - or you might get away with a light abrasive like meguiars plast-x. I put the affected cluster into the airing cupboard over night or however long it took to dry it out. Then re-sealed along the edges with black silicone sealant. Didn't steam up again. Dim Sum Posted June 18, 2014 Share Posted June 18, 2014 How are you polishing it with? by hand, DA or a rotary? If it is by hand you won't be able to remove it. If it is a DA then use a fine compound and a polishing pad to see it you can polish it out set it on 4. If that don't work switch to a heavier cutting compound till it works. sCaz Posted June 28, 2014 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Everything sorted out? Seems a little bit roughly gritted. I think you should be working all the way up to 2500. Key points are: - Use a lot of water and change paper often - Clean with water and new microfiber cloth to check for consitency of work - Grit in one way per size of paper, for instance 1600 horizontal, 2000 vertical, 2500 horizontal. Don't grit in circles. - After gritting it is surely having a cloudy look and you need to use some plastic polish, Meguiars Plastx for instance as someone mentioned Good luck, if not already sorted out!
