Before we start yes I am aware of the Oil thread by Alex and the Opie Oil trader thread however as oils change names etc information is always changing so I am looking for a quick clear answer on what oil I should be using in the current market.

2jzgte VVTI Twin Turbo

Around 60k miles on it

Full BPU

daily driver with odd spirited driving no track use at all

Which engine Oil should I go for so I can get it ordered from mr Opie asap?

10w 40 Mobil 1 fully synthetic in my car at that mileage, full bpu and was running as sweet as a nut at 137,000 miles

when i sold it.

Still on original turbos, oil pump etc

I recently priced up the oil for my BMW and i can get it cheaper

from the main dealer than Opie sell it for

Theres a thread somewhere that shows different engine oil grades for the supra. If I remember rightly BPU was something like 10w-50

Get out of here Chris ;)

I use the 10w50 and I also read the FAQ...

Read my Thread Alex I also read the FAQ as explained Oil names change most places are closed I cant ring up and check with Opie my choice is correct nor does the FAQ mention the VVTI specifically

A good quality 10w40 semi synth will be perfectly fine.

Agree - semi- synth is perfectly fine if you change your oil regularly.

Plenty of members use Halfords own brand of Oil. the Viscosity is important - the brand far less so.

I don't understand where people get their oil ideas from. Toyota spec'd a semi synth in 1991, with the advances in oil since then I see no need whatsoever to stray from that.

That was my concern I once put a branded fully synthetic oil as advised on imoc in my MR2 Turbo the car had no leaks and just burned the oil...

I went back to semi 10/40 and never used any oil over the next 4 years of owning it.

I'm not sure what Oil Jurgen puts In them on import

It's natural to want the best for ones pride and joy - that is what most companies play to and most including myself have fallen victim to it.
