ACIS valve? Is that the one on an NA? If so yes it should be open when the engine is off.

Yer thats the one. Great thanks.

So if adjust the bracket i made to hold it in the position the valve is in when the engine is off the acis will stay open permanently.

The normal operation of the ACIS valve is closed at light throttle and open at WOT.

So with the engine idling and off the valve should be in which state?

I need to force it to be open all of the time to stop the spike that i am getting as now i have boost this is causing problems.

Im custom making an inlet so in the meantime i have a little plate that i am going to use to stop the valves operation.

Removing the ACIS flap and opening out the inside of the casting will give around 5 bhp more at the top at the cost of losing up to 20 ftlbs torque at the bottom.

Thats not why im doing it, it'd stay if it could.

It is causing issues when opening under high boost so it has to go. My inlet is being completely changed anyway so there will be no split intake system anymore soon anyway.

This is just a temp fix to stop the 'noise' we are getting when the valve opens.

Closed when idle the as engine picks up opens as works on a vacuum

If your boosting an na you and having problems you want to force it open

Ok thanks.

Everything i have read said its open with the engine off. Then when i started the engine in was in the same position. So i assumed it was open at idle and closed when you started driving and then opened back up again.

Thanks Lyndon.

That link is the type of thing i was looking for, but....

I still dont understand what position the valve is in normally though. The small chart at the bottom shows the valve to be open under heavy throttle and engine speed. But i thought that with the valve closed that makes the runner length shorter?
