CW SMIC upgrade

Finally got round to installing my new intercooler. Now I know why I put it off as it took me ages but was well worth taking the plunge. I used the guide on here and found it really helpful.

Just posting up some before and after pics as there is already a very good how to as I said.

Think my old smic had seen better days, what you think?

Just a slight difference between the two!

The new one looks like a nice bit of kit, might have to look into one :sly:

Yeah just a bit eh? ;)

It is pretty good looking, a guy I know said "I don't know what that is , but i want one!"

Think there might be a group buy on the go just now as they are made to order. If you do some reading up on them they are pretty well respected

Looks much better, should pull better now as well.

I've not really given it the full beans yet mate but I'm looking forward to when I do. I noticed last year when doing a few hard pulls in the summer I had a drop in power and thought at that point I needed to get it sorted.

Boost controller install and iridium plugs and ill be bpu.

Was considering an afr guage but might not get it straight away. Sensible thing to do would be getting one though so 50/50.

I'm afraid not. I didn't do a before and after test though. I'd like to check inlet temps on this compared to a stock SMIC :)

Cool, to be honest it's more about piece of mind knowing I'm looking after the car before pushing it a bit with bpu, if I notice an improvement then all the better.

I think Wez hit 590 on his.

Ok cool, pretty sure tony tlicence was 600 odd too.

Indeed, mine on a single and Tonys was over 650hp on a twin blitz setup.

I put it through its paces on mine with trackdays, Time Attack, Ten of the Best and top speed runs at Marham

Yeeaahh booiiiii, also, they don't cost 150 quid ;)

With the power steering cooling pipes and Radiator being in the front where the FMIC would go is it not better to go smic to retain stock cooling on a bpu car, im aware some people move the power steering pipes to the side or fit after market coolers but the radiator would still be blocked is this not an issue?

also with regard to cooling the intercooler surely the aftermarket smic whifbitz/chris wilson is a better option for a bpu car to retain the stock shrouding etc then to buy a cheap fmic which is overkill and poorly fitting...

discuss......

If you read 4 posts back, he's saying the SMIC is a good option :)
