What difference is the A/F sensor compared to lambda sensor?

None. A lambda sensor is an AFR sensor. It's wideband and narrowband that you have to make the distinction between :)

  I only ask, coz Ive seen the gauge for sale with either the A/F sensor or Lambda sensor, so thought that they read different conditions

Air fuel ratio is measured as a ratio, e.g.:
14.5:1
12.7:1
11.5:1

Which is parts air to parts fuel.

'Lambda' is the ideal AFR for a petrol engine, so a lambda of 1.00 = 14.6:1 AFR.

If you have a lambda of 0.8 you've got an AFR of 11.7:1 which is spot on for an engine under high boost/high load.

I prefer to use AFR values than Lambda, it's easier for me to understand what the fuelling is like. So I'd like a gauge that read the AFR out rather than the lambda figure.

I think with the set up you are using that a wide band gauge would be a great idea.
