Hi

I bought my first mkiv Supra today. An L reg UK TT. What a great car !!! I've had loads of 300ZX's, but the Supra feels far more modern in the ride, slightly quicker and looks great !!

The only thing I noticed was the green light was flashing next to the active spoiler button (does this mean its not working ?) and the big red exclamation mark was lit up. Does the exclamation mark relate to the active spoiler error ??

Also, looks like someone has entered the radio code incorrectly 10 times, locking me out (it says "help"). The manual says call a Toyota dealer. Is this right and does anyone know what they'll charge me to "unlock" it.

Any advice greatfully received :)

Thanks

AndyZ

I get the active spoiler problem occassionally, does it happen on start up or when cold?

I think it goes through an auto test when you start the ignition and gets stuck sometimes.... I usually just switch it off by the 'auto off' button for a few mins, then back on.

Usually sorts it out :)

Edit: Marvel at my technical knowledge! :p

Does it flash as soon as you start the car or after you have hit around 60mph?

If it comes on at around 60mph its most likley just the spolier getting caught on the front lip when trying to go down - common fault!

Thanks for the advice, I'll test it out tomorrow.

I only live 5 mins from snetteton race circuit. Perhaps I should pop down there tomorrow, see if the light still flashes at 170 :)

Thanks

FYI the green light should stay on when the spoiler is deployed.. it should NOT be accompanied with the hazard warning light in the middle of the rev counter.. somethings up, engine management wise probably. Could be a duff sensor, take it to Toyota for them to check it out the error code with their little reader thingy.

If the green light is flashing, the red triangle will light up too.

Does it start flashing as soon as you turn on the ignition? - Check that there's nothing stopping it going fully up. (assuming it hasn't managed to locate 'home' properly) - Or, check the connections to the main components. You'll find a small 4 pin connector on the actual motor itself, and the spoiler ECU is behind the radio, right at the back/bottom of the tunnel, sitting on top of the ABS ECU.

If it comes on at about 60 mph, I'd guess it's jammed, and can't lower itself.

Try turning the ignition on, but not starting the engine, and push the 'down' button. The spolier should lower itself, then raise when you start the engine...

Andy, just noticed you live in the same town as me. What colour is the car?

You don't have an FMIC do you ? In which case the plug into the motor for the spoiler would have been disconnected causing the flashing and the red triangle.
