Aluminium prep

Hey

Quick q , I need my aluminium brake rotor bells brought back to raw state for anodising , sand blasting is too harsh for aluminium

 

any advice

 

i tried oven cleaner on them , will try brake cleaner next ans see how it goes

 

I have some por metal prep too, etches the metal and zinc coats

What about polishing them with aotosol before they are anodised. Would that give them a better finish. ?

 

Just dropped them off today, wire brushed them with a dremel and polished them with Autosol, here they are side by side; I didn't bother doing the rear or the disc as they wont be seen, a lot of work to polish them

 

Also Polished the Bolts

Not too sure Jim , ideally you want the aluminium as fresh as possible for the best finish

 

The rear face of the bell housing wasn't polished so will post up pics , some pitting on mine but they are on the car at least 7 years

 

Wasn't too sure if I was wasting my time polishing them but the shop anodising them said the better the prep, the better the finish

 

Will see, hopefully have them back by Friday
