Hello everyone ive recently bought a tt non vvti supra and a have been told that having a ssqv on a tt supra is very bad for the engine.....now im new to this so im still learning and not sure wether he is correct.....

From what I recall he said it had something to do with the first turbo spooling up and not having enough boost for the other...??? Like I said im not sure as to what he is saying....

With mine in particular the ssqv was very cramped in the stock position so I ran a piece of pipe just down from where it connects and down the side of the engine....about 5 inch in length I recon......does this extra bit of bov pipework make a difference. .....?

Thanks....

In general there are a lot of myths, facts and hear says. It's one of those endless debate on most car forums.

I ran a SSQV for about 3 years and had no problem in the stock position, has it mine came with the kit to mount there.

I don't know too much about this but maybe depends on peoples preferences. But I read some where about the VVTi Supra's don't like the blow off valves that much.

But I am sure someone will came along to correct me if I am wrong or give more helpful advice. :)

Completely disregard everything that comes out of this persons mouth, Supra related (or potentially other), from now on.

The ONLY physical issue with a BOV on these cars is when there is a MAF in play (UK spec of VVTi). The air is metered when entering the intake, the BOV vents out some metered air..... so your car runs a little rich when venting. This isn't so much dangerous as it is annoying, in fact the Supra actually has one of the more tolerant MAF engines that I know. My MR2 turbo just said no to idling.

I ran my uk spec (that people say has problems because of the maf) with one for 5 years.

I had no problems at all apart from if the battery was removed so the ecu had to relearn. When it would occasionally stall. But after 5 mins it was fine.

I don't run a bov on my single at all

anyone tried not running a bov on a single turbo auto?

It feels like you have 1 gear! its incredible! (You won't feel any of the gear changes its just constant power) I then put a bov on it and the whole car was a lot slower between gear changes to pick up boost again
