The importance of the door moisture barriers

Recently my window regulator failed and two weeks ago I stripped the door down and secured the glass until I could gt a replacement.

Two weeks later, I have the regulator and the time to fit it, goes out to the car and it is dripping with moisture and condensation, smells damp and even had meldew starting to form on the belts of my daughter's child seat.

I had totally underestimated the importance of the barrier and the consequences of leaving them off. If so much moisture collects in just 2 weeks, imagine how bad it would be over a longer period. The good news is that it's all back together and window operational (cheers Dazzi) and a long drive seems to have dried it out considerably.
