Handbrake lever - taking it apart?

I have purchased a new handle for the handbrake so it matches the rest of my interior, and looks a lot nicer.

However, I have a problem!

It says on the packaging to REMOVE the existing handle, and REPLACE it with this new one.

Does any one know how on earth I remove the handle off the handbrake?

Looking at it, it seems bonded together, and unless someone can tell me how to remove it, I don't want to go butchering it and finding out there is no way back :taped:

Help please :)

Under the leather is the rubber bonded cover that is part if the rear casing

When I made my own cnc cover I striped the leather and cut off the rubber to expose the metal tube underneath

I'd remove the leather (unpick the stitching and peel off) then measure the rubber and your new internal dimension of your new cover

You may not need to remove any more than just the leather
