air bag light

after stupidly turning on the ignition while the dash was in pieces my air bag light is constantly on,

so reading other articles i found this,

1. Connect a couple of wires to the terminal Tc and AB on the check connector. Don't jump them together!!

2) Turn IGN to ON or ACC and wait approx. 6 seconds.

3) Starting with Tc, connect other end of wire to ground alternately to Tc and AB and hold for 1 plus or minus .5 secs each. Do this so that each terminal is connected to grd twice. At the end of cycle, keep applying ground to Tc (third time for it, but keep it grounded.)

TIP. (Make sure you connect the next wire to ground within .2 secs after disconnecting the other one. Basically, you do it fast.)

4) After several secs, when the airbag warning light starts to blink in a 64 ms cycle, procedure is done. Just keep trying if you don't clear the first time. I had to try it 3 times.

but after spending over an hour to do this i always get the same result which is, airbag light goes on and off whilst grounding the two wires then when holding Tc to ground (on the battery terminal) the airbag light flashes twice then goes off for couple of seconds the flashes twice and continually does this no matter how long i hold Tc to ground.

am i doing it wrong ?

am i doing it to fast/slow? or doesnt this work on a uk spec auto ??

It's sort of right - use step 1 and 2 but when you get to step 3 just keep alternating the Tc and AB grounding until it goes out. You don't need to keep any wire held to ground for a long period.

Just keep doing Tc, AB, Tc, AB, Tc, AB.....etc. in time to 'one thousand, two thousand' and so on

Should take about 5 or 6 earths on each wire to put the airbag light out but you may have to try a few times to get the rhythm right.
