Guest suprageek
I just installed kenlowe twin electric fans today and i think I need a more powerful alternator to run them properly as the car missed and drained the battery today. What amp of alternator would I need to get? I'm not running a big sound system, my car is a tt bpu. Thanks
absz
I'm running twin 80watt fans on mine supra with aftermarket gauges x5 including sound sytem stock alternator with no issues, maybe you have a weak battery?
Guest suprageek
I bought a brand new battery for it after it happened, don't want it to happen again, I bought them from rob Mitchell and he didn't have an up rated alternator, guess only way to tell is to drive it lol
Guest Roger NE
Firstly, the battery doesn't provide the power when the engine is running ! The Alternator powers all the electrics (the battery is just there to smooth out the current from the Alternator, and to turn the engine over to start it) Even if you have two 80 watt fans, they will still only take a total of 12 amps ! Even with EVERYTHING turned on, I can't imagine anyone approaching the maximum output of the Alternator. (which I gather is 80/90 Amps)
