Power steering hoses, can't be right?

Hi guys, I've been fitting my fmic today, but when I ripped all the old rubbish out, I noticed this loop that is connecting the power steering pipe from the bottle to the rack.

Surely this can't be right, as it looks like a bodge. I wondered if I could remove this loop, and just join the hose inside the bay, so it runs directly from the bottle to the rack - does that make sense?

Here's what I want to get rid of:

Yeah you can remove the loop (which is the power streering cooler btw, your looks like its been cut and replaced with a rubber hose though)

ive done it on mine as have a few others, basically as you said just remove the cooler and link it streight to the rack, ive had no problems with mine and as some know i drive my supra very hard :D

Edit: but if you plan on track daying your supra it may be worth fitting a new cooler pipe ;)
