Decats, o2 sensors and such.

Hi all,

Trying to get my head around the way the exhaust system etc works.

I know there's a cast bit that attaches to the manifold with an o2 sensor slot, but then I notice that the 1st decat also has an o2 sensor slot. Does the decat replace this part? If not, would there not be two o2 sensors?

Probably being stupid, but hey.

Cheers :)

Do you mean the decat pipe you've found has the hole in it for the sensor the decat I'm about to fit doesent have the hole for a sensor so I'm just tie'ing it to the chassis

Either way works, i think its just there too make a neater more stock looking job, i also have mine tied to the chassis as mine didnt come with the a sensor hole either

Useful I needed to know that one, If you dont have the Cat temp sensor what happens if its not even plugged in to the loom?

As far as im aware the circuit needs to be complete otherwise the overheat light will illuminate

It's not the end of the world. Couple of hours with the right tools and it'll come off.

Give all the nuts and bolts a good soak beforehand with plug gas. I've not had the cat overtemp sensor in for a couple of years, and it's unplugged under the dash, the circuit isn't complete and my light isn't on.
