i know uk supras wont, thats what they have on there database at the mot stations uk specs. some garages use this to do jap cars, its just not right, thats why they are default

Mine legally passes, which was a surprise to me, something to do with a regulation that was introduced if your car is a 95 or older and isn't in the system (import) then it can have the no cat test apparently. Don't quote me on it though it's what my MOT guy told and it went through the emissions system :)

JDM or UK Twin-Turbo Supra's have to meet cat emission levels, unlike some jap cars where a no-cat test can be performed the supra doesn't fall under this because the GTE engine was sold in this country this is why pre-may 95 NA's can get away with going by no-cat test emission levels.

As per my post and mine was a 1996 J-Spec.

All sorted today. Got the MOT done at Plume and due to it being an import it called the initial emissions test but passed the secondary main CAT test without any CATs in! Great news for future reference for all imported Supra's.

It depends when it was first registered whether it needs a CAT test or non-CAT test.

but as per that diagram even pre-95 TT's need to comply to cat test emissions as there is a vehicle match for the chassis/engine as there was UK twin-turbo's, because there was never a UK NA this is why pre-95 na's don't need to comply to the same levels

I hadn't read your post before I posted that, yes you are right. I was answering the OP whose sig suggests he has an NA.

seems to be conflicting info on this,, the other year it failed on emissions, because it was being tested as a uk spec GTE, i pointed out this was not right to the workshop foreman, and then it was re tested as a default car(not on database) and passed.

We must've had this Old Wives Tale repost enough times now! :shrug:

The definitive answer is;

All and each any and every T.T. has a "GTE" engine, which's in the database and will need at least one Cat for a straight Ticket.

N/A's have a "GE" engine that's not on the list so only needs to pass the no-Cat test.
