View Full Version : Radio or aerial up?
OK here's the dilema....
My AVIC X1 headunit, when hooked up to the power aerial causes the aerial to power up as soon as I key on even with the unit switched off/onto other source other than radio. If I disconnect it I don't get to hear Moyle's dulcid tones of a morning.
Can anybody suggest a way of only powering up when I switch to radio ala stock headunit?
Cheers

I got fed up with my new stereo operating the aerial even if I was watching a DVD or playing a CD. So I cheated, I plumbed into the aerial control wire (blue wire from the rear of the headunit). I then added a small toggle switch into the armrest cubby that I can switch to operate the aerial, or switch to bring it back down. Simple mod, that allows to keep the ugly looking aerial hidden, but it will stop you getting traffic information.
Ben..
alternatively swap it over for aeither an internal arial or one of thoes stubby ones from a merc.

That's exactly what I have. The switch was being used as the FM expander on my J spec radio. When I got my new headunit fitted Little Matt at Sextons re-wired the expander switch as an aerial up/down switch. Just flip up the cubby hole and flick the switch.
