Geometry done after 4 years

Got to say, what a complete transformation this makes. As usual I wish I had done this years ago. I had stupidly never had this done after rebuilding the car so as expected everything was off..

One issue I was not impressed with about Kwik Fit, of the 4 front lower arm camber bolts, only one was done up to torque, two were about 40Nm and one wasn't even done up, resulting in the arm being able to move by hand. How bloody dangerous... I will be making a complaint to the garage tomorrow!

The front still had too much camber but they are at the end of their settings, suspension must be way too low currently. Will raise it up a bit I think and get it done again.

I thought geo was leaving the forum then.

My god I would not let those guys near my car, had a mega bad experience with them last year.

Glad it's better!

Haha, I was just editing the title while you were replying for that reason :)

Yeah normally I wouldn't trust them to service a lawnmower. My neighbour and friend works there (who I entirely trust to do a good job), he was originally going to do the work but he was sick so arranged for the other "specialist" to do it. Not impressed at all, though it did only cost £30 cash in hand

A good reason to have it done then!

I personally wouldn't use quick fit either and your experience says

it all, if they have left them finger tight i'd be getting the geo done again.

It's being done again tomorrow, this time by my mate. I think the guy who did it before is going to get a slap by his boss!

What is the difference between getting this done and a cars tracking? Excuse my naivety on this. I prbably should get a full geo setup done after lowering the car and from what some have said it sounds worth it.

I think my other questions would be roughly how much and where in West sussex I suppose :D

I was under the impression tracking is only the front toe adjustment, but not caster, camber, rear toe, total toe and thrust angle

I only went to Kwik fit because of my mate being there. I believe they use the same system as Wheels in motion, who would normally be my first choice.

Price wise Kwik fit charge £45 for the test then an incredible £20 per adjustment. Somewhere like wheels in motion does the whole job for around £120 last time I asked (which was quite some years ago!)

My brother in law is the manager for kwik fit in Billericay.

They have a hunter machine, which is supposed to be the best. I was talking to him about arranging a club session, where we could all get it done for say half price - for a set amount of customers.

When I had the geo done on my mr2, it made a world of difference. The only thing is, all the computers hold factory settings, so we'd need to supply a known good fast road setup, to set to :)

I believe all the Kwik fit places use the Hunter machine, like you said, apparently one of the best around. The settings are indeed factory, but other setups are available. Have a search for the "Lance W" settings, this is supposed to be a fast road setup but it's not for everyone. Chris Wilson (I think) said it was too aggressive and not good for road use.
