TT cam sensor position

whilst on the topic, is it usual to have oil in the CPS? both of mine had oil in them, cleaned them up, checked a couple of days later(car hasn't been started, it's stripped on stands) and there is oil in them again, is this a case of oil tracing it's way up the wiring from somewhere? no other plugs show traces of oil.

Far easier to trigger off a cam wheel with a Bosch Hall effect sensor, no welding, no real dismantling. Use the TT oil pump and crank trigger sensor and star wheel, or if you can do fabrication mount an aftermarket sensor triggerring off the flywheel or a toothed wheel on the nose of the crank. Obviously you need an aftermarket ecu for the above. This is what I did with my RB26 when I got rid of the cam driven optical sensor assembly.

I would say it's not at all normal, I have never seen this, maybe a sensor O ring is leaking oil and it's getting into the connector?

That's a rocky road, there are several little yet expensive differences down there.

 

Simpler to install a sensor wheel to the crank pulley and fit another sensor into the exhaust cam gear.

 

I've been searching a thread that shows how it's done, but can't find where I found it. :shrug:

Mine had oil in them also not so long ago I cleaned them up but yet to check again,

No point in using the exhaust cam. I want to run different cams at some point. Coils and NA cams aren't what I'm only after mate. I've seen you can run the stock sensor otherwise with coils.

 

The NA oil pump doesn't have the position in the casting for the crank sensor to go in.

 

You will need a TT pump if you want to ue the Toyota crank sensor

 

So if I'm replacing the exhaust cam sensor with a hall effect sensor, then what current sensor am I replacing when using a TT oil pump out of interest? Or is it the fact I don't have enough sensors in the first place.

 

Hope the TT oil pumps aren't too expensive :(

I said exhaust-cam gear, with a sensor in the pulley you could use any of the T.T. cams. :shrug:
