Dropdown front suspension bar rant.

Hi,

been doing a bit of suspension and brake work on the supra,new rotors, pads and new calipers.

Everything going great until fitting my new coilovers!

The front drop down bars are an absolute nightmare to get off,the top bolt I managed to loosen a bit to get a hacksaw in there no problem,the bottom bolt a PITA.

Would not budge a mm. Had to junior hacksaw the blighter off but only had around 1.5 inches each way to saw !.

Three bloody hours later and the little git comes off,talk about a high rep workout:)

The drop links are a common issue, the hex socket on the end rounds off very easily. I used a dremel with a cutting bit on mine, only took a few minutes per nut.

When you get new drop links, see if you can some with a shoulder behind where the nut sits. The Delphi drop links I picked up have 14mm shoulder, so if the hex rounds off again you can use a 14mm spanner to hold the shaft captive while you undo the nut.

Cheers for the info mate,will be getting some Delphi links,my dremel gave up the ghost half way through the first bolt !.

Too late now but you can replace the shocks/coilovers, by undoing the top wishbone bolt and levering that and the hub outwards to give you the clearance required...
