Hey all.

I have a 96 NA A/T. Just got her back on the road after 3 1/2 years. Had to dump a lot of money into the car to get it back in shape. She's running well now.

I have about $1000 dollars US left to spend. The car has no internal upgrades, only external (body kit, etc).

Using that budget, what upgrades would you guys suggest? Even if it is just a bunch of minor things to improve performance even slightly.

My goal is not to make the car some sort of monster, just want to upgrade her a little right now. So, the more things I can do the better.

Thanks in advance.

Don

Before doing any 'modifications' i'd make sure the car is in good working order.

Engine oil and filter

Air Filter

Spark plugs

Plug leads

Distributor cap

Rotor arm

Oxygen sensors

Brakes

What brakes are fitted? If you have the smaller brakes (2pot/1pot) you could upgrade to the larger brakes (4pot/2pot)

Brake caliper refurbish

Brake pads

Brake discs

Braided stainless steel brake lines

Good quality brake fluid

Brake master cylinder stopper

Handling

Check condition of all suspension components

Full geometry check

Good quality tyres

That will be the grand then!

Sorry I haven't been able to answer. I'm a beer salesman and its a big American holiday this weekend (Memorial Day). So, there's been lots of drinking going on lol.

Yes, the car is completely stock.

Thanks

Nic,

ALL of that is being done as we speak. Every single thing on your list as a matter of fact. All the way down to the new tires.

So, now that you know that's taken care of, what's your suggestions?

Facelift headlights, rear lights, indicators/sidelights and clear side markers.

S2000 aerial conversion.

Exhaust, tubular manifold, decat.

Front and rear braces.

Nic,

Thanks for the advice man. Will look into the exhaust and decat. for sure.

The aeriel conversion seems like a nice little addition as well.

What about upgrading the computer chip and intake? Or would you do that other stuff first?

I don't pretend to be a car guru or I wouldn't be asking, obviously. Just want to get an idea of what to do and in what order from people that have gone thru this before.

Thanks again for your input.

IMHO the best mods for an NA would be to make it handle and stop better, performance wise the costs just dont deliver worth while gains, in fact I noticed improved low down torque when I switched back to the stock exhaust from a Blitz Nur Spec that was already fitted ;)
