Hi all can anyone help me. On my car there is two breather pipes going from the inlet manifold down to just above/behind the starter motor. Can anyone name the thing that is a near the starter motor.

What's the problem?

There is a air tank thing with a vacuum switching valve on it and I think there is also a 2nd vacuum switching valve down there. The one with the tank is for the second butterfly valve on the inlet.

Ignore the parts for the EGR and DLC.

Iam getting a lot of black smoke out the back and the revs are never settled when ticking over I thought two vacuum houses off this thing and I put them back on and it now cuts out I take one of the pipes off and it starts and runs with hardly no black smoke but still not working right. There is a block connector on this thing where the pipes go so I can only guess its on its way out but need to no what it is called so I can order a new one. Thanks for the pic I will have a look at it and see what I can find out

Try changing the pipes over as they need to be the right way round. I had a problem like this after I put the inlet manifold back on. Get a photo up of what you think the problem is and we can probably help a bit more.
