Engine bolts, studs and nuts.

Hi all,

Regarding my new engine build im wondering where the best place is to buy various nuts and bolts to piece the engine together as im building it from scratch with new parts. Its mainly all the exterior nuts, bolts and studs for things like the exhaust manifold, pumps cam covers, sump etc.

Is it possible to use aircraft grade anodised ones? If so I take it im best off looking up the sizes and making a custom order.

Or even just a fresh set of oem parts just to get the engine together.

If anyone can point me in the right direction please let me know,

Thanks

Every engine I've ever rebuilt I've used ARP bolts. Brilliant kit and tried and tested through and through in many engines.

ARP are the internal engine fasteners, im looking for decorative exterior engine bolts that are still strong enough to hold the accessories and covers etc.

if your looking for oem nuts and bults then the best person to call is steve manly at inscape toyota oxford. He gives forum members 20% dicount and knows his stuff so you always get what your after

Thanks, im sure there have been members that have every nut and bolt anodised and colour matched on there show engines, this is what im looking for instead of the standard hardware.

Can anyone that's done this give me some input please, can I get stainless exhaust manifold studs? As mine have severly rusted and I want the new build to last looking fresh. I dont want any bolts going rusty so where can I find suitable fasteners to fit all the parts on a 2jz?

I just bought new exhaust studs off eBay for £15 I think, I had all bolts and nuts chromed other than that there isn't much you can do unless you buy titanium bolts from the likes of pro bolt mate

Ok thanks mate. Stuff like the covers I will use anodised aluminium but for everything else I think i'll just get chromed.

Its a bit harder building an engine from scratch as I have to source every single bit!
