Couldnt find one of these threads so thought I would start one myself.

Heres the stuff to remember for the trip

Euro tunnel confirmation number

European Breakdown cover

European travel kit for driving abroad (http://www.theaa.com/rewards/offers/aa-shop-driving-europe-hpo.jsp)

Satnav with routes preloaded

Insurance notified of travel

Car service and checkup (optional)

Food and petrol money

Passport (and optional E111 health document https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home.do )

You will all be provided with 2 x static cling stickers for the side windows, 2 x name stickers for wherever on the car you want to stick them and a commemorative little something put together by Ellis. Those that pre-ordered stickers will also need to collect them from me when you can find me.

So here is a list of TomTom satnavs that WILL NOT take the itn route files as they dont do itinerary planning

GO 1000 series, GO LIVE 800 series, Via series, Start 20 series, Start 60

There is no simple work around on these. you will need to check the routes and program in a load of 'go via' options to make it follow the route. I will release the routes at the end of this weekend.

This is the one I got last year JP

From memory, someone said they had an issue of the Itinery bit disappearing when they did an update, it didn't happen to mine

Just update it as soon as you get it and if the Itinery function disappears then take it back and ask for another one

I find with all the TomTOm units that they sit a long way away from the driver and I'm continually fiddling with mine so I bought an extended screen mount for it. Sits right on the edge of the dash now and much easier to change settings while on the move.

You missed off a couple of bits:

1x tooth brush

1x spare pair of boxers

1x box of beer

Other than that all bases covered.

Thanks

Isn't there some new crazy rule that says you're meant to have a breathalyser in the car along with the warning triangle, spare bulbs etc?

Officially all sorted now, just needed to get the breathalysers which came today :)

Yep :)
