Could i de-value my car ? Photoshop Guru may help.

Really am toying with the idea of having my car resprayed in black just purely because i think it would look awesome in black. there aint anything wrong with my paintwork , infact id say its in perfect condition , no rust no scratches at all. only part of the car that would probably be left white would be the engine bay..may get a price on doing the strut tops and wing tops to suit.

Wouldnt sell the car and just buy a black one as i know ive got a good car and would hate it if i ended up with a nail.

its a facelift supra VVTI tiptronic on a V reg so one of the last models to be made, currently with 50,000 on the clock, full BPU ,Uk spec brakes .without going in to the full spec i just purely want to know if this is the sort of thing that would have a impact on the cars value if i was to ever sell it.

Keep it white. Its the best colour ;)

Biased!

I love black mate, I sold my silver Supra that was pretty much finished in order to save a tatty old black Supra, nowi have spent two years doing it up and spending a shed load of money I don't regret it, they look the absolute business in black.

why would it devalue it? The only cars I've struggled to sell are white cars.

Plus black is the fastest colour....

Wasn't sure really just didn't know if I'd be ruining my car by changing the colour. It's a awesome car abit special too I think and abit rare to come by in the condition .

Personally id leave it as is. Black and white are the two most popular/desirable colours. Try doing some suttle changes if you want to give your car a new look ie wheels, lips etc. If you must change the colour get it WRAPPED but do it professionally, then when you've had enough of the black you can peel it off.

A lot would depend on how good a job is done

As above. I'd be looking for photos of the prep/paintwork being done to a very high standard, culminating in a perfect paint job and some VERY expensive receipts.

If your cars paintwork is as good as you're claiming, you'd be barmy to remain it. You'd be much better selling your car for a premium and buying a rougher one to respray.

I got Quoted £1500 to wrap the car and it can be resprayed for less than that by my mate . Don't like the idea of wrapping either as I had my old skylines roof wrapped and when I got bored and removed it paint came off with it .

True I guess mate that's why I can't make a decision to just do it , there is nothing wrong with the paint work so no real excuse to go ahead and have a respray , just preference really.
