View Full Version : Whats This on my ECU ????????

My SZ goes upto 1.3 bar with the front cat still in. Every one who has driven it says its one of the fastest Supes they have tried :eek:
Now I thought it was stock.
John Fisher advised me to look at the ECU on the passenger side for any extra bits ( I was hoping to find a Mines sticker......... he he he he :innocent:)

However I did find 2 thingies wired into the ECU:
A little plastic black box about the size of a fag packet
A bigger gold coloured box on the LH side of the footwell

There is no writing on either box.......Does anybody have any ideas??

ooops car is a RZ TT not a SZ which I originally stated

I'd wager the black box is a fuel cut defender as it has four wires - +ve, gnd, MAP in and MAP out.

The gold box has a couple of beefy power wires and it's wiring loom heads off behind the dash rather than the ECU area so I'd say it's either something to do with an alarm system or something to so with a stereo...

Otherwise it's tracing wiring time for you :)

Cheers Ian, FCD makes sense as I am boosting at 1.3 bar.
I have no idea how I am getting this boost ???
Engine looks stock??

You coming to Fram on the 28th? Or am I still the only red one

Alas, other commitments mean I can't.

Check for a bleed valve lurking near the first turbo?

Full de-cat and 3 inch+exhaust on a j-spec with a fcd would certainly boost that high, Charlie.

Thanks Dave, Ive still got the front cat in, surely you cant get to 1.3 bar with just a rear decat and 3" exhaust :conf:

Also I dont want to toast my turbos running 1.3 :eek:

The gold box is your alarm system... I can even tell you what make and model it is!!!...

I have a spare restrictor ring sitting next to that aerial i promised you Charlie - CW jobbie rated for 1.1bar:)

I hit 1.7bar - :p - fun while it lasted

full decat, but i forgot the restrictor ring... several weeks later, they expired.

Oh well..

Mines hit 2 bar and 1100 degrees exhaust gas temp so I am sourcing a restrictor ring from mr wilson V soon I hope. Till then I am turning the boost controller down to 0 bar and hope that will keep the pesky critters in line.
