Is there usually any form of security protection like a pop off panel or similar with the DIN sized units with motorised screens?

If its antitheft measures your thinking of..then the answer is yes..most of them have some area (or the whole) of the frontpanel detacheable :)

I'll keep looking for 'ok' :)

I'm on a restrictive budget but want to ditch the standard stuff.

I got the new Kenwood DDX-7035 (I think it's DDX) 6.5" fixed monitor with touch screen and multi region DVD. Nothing releases from it, but any little scum has to remove half of the dash to get them out anyways.

Ben..

That's what worries me really, the scum don't take screws out and make sure the clips are out properly, they just crowbar things out of the way until they can get at the toys :(

Ive got an Alpine cva-1004r with a 7 inch wide screen monitor fully retractable, set it in millions of positions and the bottom half pops of and goes in a funky little wallet that looks like a sunglass bag!
