Could do with some advice please guys.

Has anyone sold their car to an overseas buyer and if you

have which part of the VC5 did you use.

My situation is a little confused as the car is being exported

but not personally by me and its being bought by a French

importer on behalf of his client.

I think i might be giving Jurgen a call if no one can help

I sold my car last night to someone exporting, you give them the whole V5 and write to the DVLA and tell them you have sold it and believe they are exporting it then they send you a confimation letter.

I believe you only sign section 8, which is the box at the bottom of the first inner page

Cheers Matt

I just rang DVLA and the pre recorded message says what you said.

You both sign & date section 8 and the new keeper fills out section 6 and you

give the whole VC5 to the buyer.

You write to DVLA Swansea giving the details of you and the car and when it was

sold to the overseas buyer.

Why can't they just have a section in the VC5 for this

They sort of do as there is an exporting car section, but i think it was primarily desgined for when you have bought the car and recieved the new V5 then plan to export

The exporting section is for personally exporting the car and not selling it

by the look of it

give him full V5 and you keep and then send the export section to DVLA (job done)..

sorry mate was full of busy as been away few days.

No problem Jurgen and thanks for your input

DVLA says sign and give them the whole VC5 and then write to them

giving the vehicle details and date of export.

  • 3 weeks later...

I was in the area of my local DVLA office so i popped in to confirm what to do with the

VC5 when you sell to an overseas buyer.

The chap there told me to remove the blue section, fill it in and send to DVLA, sign the green

section and give the buyer the rest of the VC5
