Proximity Alarm Useful?

After some inbred has decided the Supe would look better with a scratch down the side for Christmas :( I'm considering getting a proximity alarm fitted as i now have to park it on a side street.

What are peoples experience with them, are they more likely just to draw more unwanted attention or do they count as an OK deterrent?

i find it usefull being that my car had a emobilizer but that still didnt stop some chav trying to nick it by doing all my door locks, so i thought whats the point having a alarm that goes off once the damage has been done , yes they are anouing at times but pros out way the cons for me

If your car is parked on the street then a proximity alarm is probably of limited use for all the reasons mentioned already; if it's on private property then it's definitely worth it. Besides, if you ever park up somewhere other than your own place, you can always temporarily disable it at the push of a button. Well, 3 buttons...! :)
