Hey guys, been a fan of the mighty Supra all my life & i am very close to selling my beloved EP3 Type R to purchase a Supra. Im looking at a Twin Turbo & an N/A. My heart is saying TT but my wallet is saying N/A... I've been lurking around this awesome website ages for info so i thought i might aswell join! I will keep you guys posted with what i decide to do :) Any advice would be welcome as im leaning towards the N/A until ive got the funds to get a TT and go mental onit.

I love them both... but i love the supra just that little bit more.. its my dream car (exluding the pagani zonda).. i completley get what you're saying, when i sit in the type r i always feel the need to hear that vtec where as i just see myself cruising along in the supra, giving everyone a chance to appreciate its beauty. How long have u had your supra bro?

Naaaaahhhhhh... That's why you need at TT with a vent-to-atmosphere dump valve and an aftermarket exhaust - you end up driving FAR too fast just to hear the straight six and turbo scream as you hammer through the gears! :D It's a licence-worrying, intoxicatingly awesome noise! :eyebrows:

An N/A is not going to feel anywhere near as nippy as the Type R

It depends what sort of budget you have at the end of the day, there are some nice N/A's at good peices these days, but if your thinking of having a blast against others, then your going to need boost

I not going to slap the N/A down, as I had mine for 6 years before doing the TT transplant very recently, but the N/A is all sho really, especially against modern cars, but if yearly budget is a facture then the a good N/A is very reliable and just needs standard servicing if your lucky like I was for 6 years

Yeah thats it I mean this is the fastest car ive had yet I drive it a lot slower everywhere. Ive had mine for around 5 months now. If your after something quicker than the type R its definately worth saving the extra for a TT or single mate.

ive got the money for a twin turbo auto with 28k miles, all histoy/jap-history backed up.. but when i get a TT, i want it to be a uk spec fully mint one.. and im gonna have to wait a few years.. and need more knowledge and experience for it. Im looking at an N/A with 53k for 3g's.. its beautiful and i kinda see as a 'my first supra' kinda thing.. not bothered about the speed yet... but when i do get my craving for absoloute power back, ill have a TT before you know it! aha :)

Welcome matey,

Martin aka Kirk on here knows his way around a Supra. He's based in Oldham.

Hi and welcome. Nice TypeR you have.

Having owned both, NA and TT,.. I'd say, if you want a sports car feel that wont make you regret selling the TypeR, save that little extra and buy a TT. That said, I had many happy years pretending I had a TT whilst driving an NA. :D

Seriously though, Loved my NA.

Test drive both and see for yourself.

Yep, good point.

I had a cosmic grey facelift EP3 Type R, an TT auto & NA both 6 speed and auto.

I loved my EP3 Type R, great car and brilliant for around town driving and low maintenance, pretty nippy too.

The NA Supra will 'feel slower' than the Type R and also get mulled in the corners by the EP3 but on a straight they are fairly similar in speed just the Supra does it with less drama. The main difference you will notice is how solid the Supra feels in comparison and effortless it is or feels effortless in comparison. Also the other biggest factor is you will know the petrol station attendant by his first name regardless if you get a TT or NA, I would say they drink roughly the same amount of fuel!

The TT though will feel like a completely different beast in comparison, even more so if it is BPU.

An welcome to the forum. :)

I went through same dilemma a little while ago. Had an impreza and was deliberating whether to get an na Lexus gs300 or go for the gs430 v8. (I was after luxury barge). I ended up buying an aristo for the tt lump. Now I get just over 23miles to every tenner but also feel great knowing I can sleep my way past most things about. Tt and fuel regret is much better than na and no tt regret.
