1st Decat question

Evening - had the car in for MoT and new starter motor today and took in my 1st (nearest the engine) decat to be done after the MoT!!

They didn't do it today because they thought it looked like a big job (harder than doing the 2nd one I know) but my question is about the O2 sensor. Is this removed or should it be placed in the decat pipe? I've got both pipes from Whifbitz but there's not O2 sensor hole in pipe 1. So what happens? Or is the O2 sensor in the section before the 1st decat?

As I only look in the engine bay if there's a fire or screaming (and it's now dark out there) my knowledge is limited.

Cheers - E

I think you'll find it's a cat overheat sensor.

Leave it plugged into the loom and tie it up out of the way, mine lives behind the radio.

This.

To change the cat out and replace with the decat is maybe a half hour job. It's only the 3 nuts that attach to the down pipe, and the 2 that attach to the rest of the exhaust. The 3 at the top can be a pita to get to mind.

Yeah as others have said, the sensor that is in the 1st cat itself is the cat temp sensor, which you can put in the new decat if it has the flange on or you can tie it out the way. The O2 sensor is above the cat and this can be seen from looking in from engine bay :)

Be careful of the 3 bolts though as the can be seized and then snap the thread.
