Shall i make my own restrictor ring?

Hi all, been having thoughts of making my own restrictor ring, my car is a jdm tt auto, i have access to a cnc plazma cutter at work,

I could make a handfull of them if anyone is interested, or do you think its a waste of time and just buy one?

the reason i was thinking of making them is you could make the 2" restictive hole a little smaller giving you less boost but with your boost controller

up it to what you want, the benifit i see is that you would see a greater range of adjustment in the boost, ie instead of 1bar to 1,2bar you could have 0.8 to 1.2

dose this make, or am i missing something???

Would this not cause egt issues? for the sake of a tenner i would just by a tried an tested one

It's not a bad idea, but for the cost to buy one done, it's a lot less hassle!

i think i go looking for problems somtimes lol, i made quite a few custom parts in time, my own poly bushes, camber adjusters, a new piston for my ls400 brake calipers fitted to the aristo,

Totally agree, it is certainly a good idea but like others have said it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Interesting point about making a smaller diameter for the boost range.

I'm sure it's better to restrict it to about 1bar, so that the EGTs aren't so high at 1.2bar.

Can someone explain to me what a resistor ring is exactly.

From photos I've seen, its just a round donut? Any idea how thick it is? I could get these laser cut for pennies.

They look like an exhaust gasket but made of steel the are probobly 5mm ish thick

From memory a 1bar RR has a 52mm hole. Mine does and works fine.

everyone bangs on about EGT with a rr but clearly flows more air then with the stock cats in so its always going to be better then how mr T had it unless you up the boost with a EGC,

if someone could get one and measure it or send it to me, i could pump these out super cheap.

I ordered a gasket so I would get the shape and size, iv ordered a downpipe now so that will tell me anyway,
