some cleaning advice

Ive had a look through previous threads and there seems to be a lot of different views on whats the best way to clean the engine bay. Im looking at cleaning the engine and bay whilst the engine is in, i know it wont be perfect this way round but the engine wont be coming out for some time yet.

The car is a n/a so there is a tad more space to clean rather than a tubby.

Get a slection of brushes for starters, something like these:

you will want a decent degreaser as well, I use Bilt Hamber Surfex HD, its waterbased, and wont stain if allowed to dry (try and avoid).

Although Autoglym engine and machine cleaner is pretty good as well. Spray on, let it soak, re apply and work in with brushes, before rinishing off with a hose. If using a pressure washer, keep it low, use a bit of common sense and dont blast water at anything electrical. Engine bays are pretty water resistant to an extent anyway. Dry excess off, start engine and allow it to dry.

For a nice shine something like Aerospace 303, Chemical Guys barebones or Autoglym Vinyl and rubber care are all good options depending on your budget.

HTH.
