Annoying rattle?

ATM I'm driving around and the past few days an when go over a bump etc my boot rattles? It's like it ain't shut property?

I would pull the latch to release it and it would be quiter, but if I shut it, sometimes it may go but other times it's there!

Really bothering me especially travelling on the a12 For work this week -_-

Any help would be good!

Also need a set of cheap alloys !! 17/18?? Staggered too

^^^^^ Yup, as above mate, the boot rubber dry out over time and become hard, and they then dont cussion the boot lid properly. Mine was driving me crazy for months before i replaced them. Paul @ Whifbitz can supply these i believe.

Hard to change?

They are easy to change .. BUT.. most of the screws tend to snap or sheer off and then you have to drill them out etc .. so possibly a nightmare

Could be suspension knock. Thats what mine was, but I got boot rubbers from Paul 1st as its a cheaper option to trial and eliminate

The screws will have thread lock on them witch makes them a bitch to remove, some heat will help and use the correct size tool to minimise rounding the head off.

It's a total of 2 screws and 2 bolts, which should be the easiest job you've ever done on your car. Be prepared for it to be a pain though - mine was.

For all the work I have done on my car in the past year, spending £20 and three hours of my life replacing these rubbers was the most satisfying because the squeaking and rattling had been driving me mad for a year and I didn't know what the cause was.

Of the three hours, I spent five minutes getting three of the screws out and the rest of the time getting the fourth out. Much grazing of knuckles and bad language. The first time I drove the car afterwards was like it was brand new. The really good news is that the replacement screws use allen keys so no more stripped heads

I was lucky, 10 minutes and it was done!

Mine too. I just used a new screwdriver so that it fit the head snug, and they just came away. The only thing i had to do with one was to hit the screwdriver with a hammer to realy get the screwdriver in well, but the whole job was 20 minutes tops.

My nuts are driving me crazy. The heads are now rounded.

Try mole grips if rounded or an old flat head screwdriver and a big hammer ;-)

On the risk of sounding stupid - these boot rubbers are the same for all models right? 1996 Facelift is what I have.

Maybe pop down your local GUM clinic?

replaced mine 6 months ago. They had to be drilled out.
