herbiemercman
hi everyone, just replaced my stock front bumper for another stock one i purchased from this club. it was a red one so had to be filled and sprayed black, cost £150 for bumper and £175 for spraying. i followed the sticky from this site which was very helpfull. in my opinion it is not an easy job for the faint hearted, there must be 60 fasterners of different types and if your car is 15 yrs old + then most have suffered excessive corrosion, apart from the plastic toddles which are toyota specials, they cannot be removed without destruction and replacements are circa £3 each, there is also two bar studs which locate at each end of the bumper, they come in at £20 each, so the cost of fasteners is circa £70 inc. vat, and you cannot use anything else, still impressive that you can purchase this stuff from the oem toyota after 15 yrs. i also replaced my "frog eye" headlights for a pair of "black nights" obtained from this club, car now looks great, and i am £550 worse off. i don't think i will be doing this job again but non the less everything i fastened up was "waxoyled" to avoid all the metal fasteners corroding away. whilst the front bumper is removed you can trat all the pipework, you can also remove all the crud from between the two radiators as this can rot away the lower matrix, this happened on my brother's car at a cost of £370. the reason i had to replace my front bumper was due to the old one blistering badly, this is caused by grey or pink filler being used to fill the number plate holes etc, this co-polymers like cancer, the only filler that can be applied is german and lime green in colour, its not cheap but is completely inert, many repair sprayers are not aware of this, i had my original bumper repaired three times and after 2 months the blisters start to appear. many of you will be fitting the fibe glass after market stuff so ok, but if you go for originallity as i do you need to be aware of my situation, it has been a £700 frustrating mistake due to ignorance. herbiemercman. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=156323&stc=1&d=1345044659http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=156324&stc=1&d=1345044685 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=156322&stc=1&d=1345040988http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=156321&stc=1&d=1345040945 Edited August 15, 2012 by herbiemercman (see edit history)

Guigsy
Mine on my Old car was quite easy. Replaced all the Toyota bits with nuts and bolts. Then in the future it was like 10 bolts to undo and out it comes.
Dim Sum
I remember my first time taking it off, was longer but since I've changed it to a aftermarket it is a lot easier. Roughly around 10 bolts to remove but still pain to bolt up near the arches.
James
Are there fixing strips between the bumper and wings? My bumper is currently only held on by the 5 bolts at the top and one to each arch liner!
