Hi All

I have just purchased a supra and one thing annoying me is the colour of the headlight seems to be yellow - i went to see a few and most were the same - is there a cure or some sort of polish that will return the lights to clear glass as i think it spoils the front end of the car. I know buying new ones would be the safest option but i don't have the funds for that at the moment

Any advice appreciated!

Adam

I just used chrome polish (Autosol) All you're doing is removing the small pits that accrue over the years and the UV effect the sun has on polycarbonate.

Plenty of different methods for cleaning the yellowness on the headlights, here a few of them.

1) Wetsand with 1200grit, go upto 1500grit, then 2000grit. Use a polish/cutting compound on a rotary/DA to bring them back to life.

2) IPA/Thinners to see the yellowness melt away before your very eyes (use with caution, too much can damage the plastic lens!)

One of the best compounds ive used is Farecla G3, been using this for years and the lights come up an asolute treat. Plastx and scratchX are other ones to use, some people use a glass or metal polish, some people prefer t-cut. To keep the finish as clean as possible without the yellowness coming back in a hurry, a lot of people (including myself) laquer the headlights to keep them crystal clear. There are a lot of threads regarding polishing headlights etc, have a search on here for more information :)
