who makes the cheapest Single turbo kit?

Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two of them :)

That advice has been given out on this forum for a long time, and for good reason. Unless you're capable of fabrication, full installation and engine mapping you're going to be looking at over £10k however you look at it.

Have to agree its not worth doing it on the cheap, the turbo kit is only part of the list needed to go single properly, you need injectors, ECU, FPR, fuel pump, clutch or auto box cooler, you should also consider a host of other things like brakes, suspension, afr gauge, oil pressure gauge, intercooler

Then you have the list if things that you find need replacing as you do the work

I spent about 10 k getting my car and taking it to BPU, just spent another 8 getting it to single

^This^

I always though 'pah, that's poppycock' when people said you need at least £8k to go single, well I'm looking at £9k........so far :D

no sorry you guys your missing my point of the post, I know all this about cheap rubbish etc, I'm looking at the market place

its hard to say what I've got in mind as I'm not a trader and not aloud to give even the slightest hint that I am or what I can do/produce, and don't want to rock the boat just looking for information.

After looking at the amuse supra I like how its been tuned, not monstrous power but very quick response and spool, using a GT3076r turbocharger setup on the stock manifold and adaptor based system and when I finally find myself a nice 6spd TT i'd be looking to make something along those lines for myself, but I'd probably use a nice CNC'd adaptor block for the TT manifold to T3 footprint with 44mm Tial Vband platform underneath for external wastegate. Mainly for longevity and reliability reasons over a stainless one which is more likely to crack. with the CNC'd block it allows me to get the whole assembly ceramic coated as well to keep the heat in and out the engine bay. Locations and positioning would be easily done once I get my own supra to base from.

definitely going to built one for myself just wandering what else there is out there in the similar tuning range.

Why did you say this part?

You're rocking my boat.

I'm trying to see what the market place is like for a cheaper high quality single turbocharger kit produced by myself, I do this for all the other cars I specialise. but as I'm not a trader I'm not aloud to say this on the open forum (i'm full aware i've just done that above)

I was looking for information of what's out there and impressions etc without saying "look at this I'm planning to build and sell on my website" as I know that's not aloud. But as you can see from my first post people mis-understood what I meant, so had to re-word it without overstepping the terms and conditions setout.

sorry if it seems I'm trying to be sneeky or anything I'm trying to play by your rules here.

With bellows sections in the 2 pipe runs to the turbo flange, a thicker turbo flange, and some means of turbo support and it would be a pretty nice setup that could be very cost effective. If i was doing a single turbo 2JZ-GTE I would probably do something very similar. I have often toyed with mocking up two small integral wastegate turbos off a stock manifold, I think it's "do-able".

i was thinking of something along the lines of a CNC steel adaptor or even a cast iron system depending on manufacturing ease, yes thermal expansion along the manifold length a flexible system would help but it would also be another failure point as pre turbo gas pressures would be at there highest. I've seen segmented cast manifolds on older engines that haven't had an issue being solidly mounted, tip is to as you can see on the stock systems is to have bigger holes that stud diameter to allow for thermal expansion so they don't bind. You could also allow a small 1-2mm diameter difference on the mounting flanges internal flow paths to allow movement without having an edge entering gas flow. larger diameter step wouldn't effect flow either and turbulence would be minimal.

This wouldn't be for monster powers cars but more street tuned setups where a small single is better suited and mass flow isn't a problem. and being all cast and even a cast manifold, steel setup would be alot more robust and reliable than a tubular option. (not doubting tubular would be better for power and flow, but this could work well for a mildly tuned setup)

Does anyone know the limits of the stock twin manifolds? thats not turbos on the end.

Ooooh, all the lag of a tubular manifold with the restriction of a cast one. The worst of both worlds :D

why would you have all the lag of a tubular? restrictions of a cast I can understand but its only going to restrict after a point and if were not at that point it could be a good thing.
