Chris Wilson Posted July 20, 2012 Share Posted July 20, 2012 The early mounts need their dedicated brackets onto the engine block, from memory. they are most definitely more durable. the late (VVti type) ones are notorious for failing. in fact all silicone damped engine mounts seem prone to failing. Porsche 928 ones were notorious for failing, and were hugely expensive to replace. If they need changing go the extra mile and convert to the early type, for sure. SPG Posted July 27, 2012 Author Share Posted July 27, 2012 Thanks for the reply's gents, I have a facelifted non-VVTi and just assumed that i would have the same engine mounts as the VVTi variant.
