View Full Version : O/D button
Hi guys and gals , yes it may be a stupid question but is it better to drive normally with the over drive button out meaning the O/D light is always on on the dash saying O/D OFF . I thought this was a power button like on my scoob but if i pressed that in then the light came on where as this is the other way round. I have always been driving with the button in so the light is off just wondering if this is the reason im not doing very good miles per gallon. I have noticed with the O/D button out that the car holds on to the revs alot longer. Sorry for being stupid so dont tease me ha ha.
if you look here (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23943) there is a really good explination of what the overdrive button does.
hope this helps
What it does. (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&postid=291037&highlight=overdrive#post291037) How to use it. (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&postid=291185&highlight=overdrive#post291185)
LOL Thats so funny reading that thread it is indead very confusing. So To be honest I think I was better doing what I was dong and driving with the light off meaning the button is in . I only took the button out for the first time last night and to be honest I dont like the way it was driving though I am doing an experiment on my fuel consumption at the mo but I expect i will be correct in thinking that with the O/D light off button out meaning the light is on that i will get better miles per gallon . Oh what the hell to this miles per gallon im just going to enjoy driving it!!!
It's not that confusing, honest!
Overdrive is just another name for 4th gear. So with overdrive off (light on), it won't change up into 4th gear.
Obviously, higher gears are better for fuel consumption so leave overdrive on (light off) normally.
James.
Thanks for that its just the light on button out thing which is confusing as with the scoob it button in light on. I get it now though so thanks for clearing up a debate ive been having with karl ha ha.
