I would put the best oil in your car that suits it, and you can afford.

Yeah I totally agree mate, I really meant should I be considering anything special or is any decent grade oil ok.

What have you used in yours?

I've always used Mobil 1 fully synthetic, theres 135,000 miles on my engine and

its as sweet as a nut and still on the original turbos

Thanks dunk, seems a goog choice. Which grade do you use 10w-40?

A 5w50 will provide lubrication quicker from when you start the car as it has a thinner viscosity, hence it being suited for shorter trips. The 10w50 will provide better protection for the parts as it's thicker but takes longer to heat up to the optimum operating temp.

Oil grades in a nutshell :)

10w-40 for example

The 10w bit (W = winter which simply means that the oil must

have a certain maximum viscosity/flow at low temperature.

The lower the "W" number the better the oil's cold temperature/cold start performance.

The 40 in a 10w-40 means that the oil must fall within certain viscosity limits at 100°C.

This is a fixed limit and all oils that end in 40 must achieve these limits.

The lower the number the thinner the oil: a 30 oil is thinner than a

40 oil at 100°C etc

I now use Mobil 1 extended life 10w60 due to the higher miles on the engine

How many miles are on your NA/T engine Paul

He said just under 70,000 miles from memory, I'd say I do shorter journeys in the car if that does make a difference. Is Kam right then?
