This week is Golden week in Japan, so a week of holidays, I decided to take some time to refurb the interior of my Supra.. Decided to start a thread to share my progress.. DAY 1. So today around 12pm, I got busy taking the interior apart, but b4 that, lets look at the new dash I will be installing,I picked it up off Yahoo Auction, it came of a 2000 model SZ. I am replacing it cos my car dash has what has come to be the free dash warp in the centre, it annoys the hell out of me.. So at first I pull the dash panels off, gloveboxes, dash under panels, and the centre armrest. This left me with this mess of wiring. It is from the in car sub, navigation and TV setup (non of which work properly).. Removed the lot of it, this is what came out.. Using this opportunity to swap the door control module and neaten all the wiring from my alarm and EBC. I am fitting the ffg in at the same time.. Mines ECU (plus ECU pin refurb) TEIN EDFC HKS Knock amp (in the post). New Speedo glass and changing the bulbs to white. New indicator stalks New leather gear cover. Then in goes a black carpet, followed by my new leather seats.. Will keep the progress updated on here, will try to take more pics as well.. Thanks for looking.. Cheap part to replace but a ball ache to pull the dash apart again for it! Great chunk of wires out there! Hodge will have a heart attack seeing that I really don't know what the previous owner was up to, he had a mile of cable all tucked up under centre armrest.. Waste of time.. Yea I remember taking a whole load of wiring out of my imported car from behind the radio, under the centre console and around the windscreen. I thought you guys in Japan just liked lots of techno geaky stuff which does not work in the UK. I think I had wiring for some sort of SATNAV (not fitted when I got the car), Toll road sensor thingy, Hands free phone kit and a whole load of wiring that was not toyota but I could not figure out what it was for Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And the Japs do like a whole lot of crap mounted all over the show. (I am not Japanese, just living here)... I was happy to get rid of all this stuff.. Samurai 20V Posted April 28, 2012 Author Share Posted April 28, 2012 Finished up transferring the harness from the old to the new dash, including the vents.. Then fitted the new speedo cover... This is the cover before, many scratches.. New cover from YAhoo Auction.. Fitted to the meter, easy job, just clips on.. Thats it for today... Spent the a half day sorting the wiring out in the car.. - Alarm rewired and neatened up. - Pulled the engine harness out the cabin, took a look at the ECU pins, all seems in order. - Mines ECU installed, lets hope it all works now (had an O2 sensor error before with the Mines). - Installed the TEIN EDFC wiring, Defi wiring/AFR gauge/EVC neatened up.. - New gear lever cover was fitted to the console panel. Tomorrow, refit the dash, test all items working. Fit the EVC writer (enables me to hook me EBC to the PC and fine tune the boost settings) Then fit the new carpet as below.. Samurai 20V Posted April 30, 2012 Author Share Posted April 30, 2012 Day 3 So this was the scene this morning, all wiring completed, ready for dash install.. Hoovered the inside of the car before starting up.. With the help of the missus I got the dash back in..Not much to report, dash went in pretty easy, just followed the guide step by step.. The missus said that I must report that she installed the EVC writer.. No more warped dash, very happy with that.. Here is a good shot of the new speedo glass,huge difference. Once the dash was complete, got the new black carpet in, much nicer.. Had a few issues with the LED lights, had to swap some of the bulbs over, here is the final result. My TRD meter is new so its brighter than the rest, so I am on the lookout for replacements.. HEre is the new white LED bulbs.. (sorry the photo is a bit shaky) The only issue I had was the replacement, indicator and wiper switches I bought are for the facelift, I had no idea they were different, so I need to find a clean set for the pre-facelift.
