Tom S Posted March 27, 2012 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Hi all I was asked after last years great JAE to put everything in place for this years at Wicksteed Park on 6-9th September (Thurs-Sun) Approximate cost per head would be £50 but that as usual includes all food and drink for the event. No Megaphone wake ups are planned but you never know. We have 40 tickets and the same plot booked. I can arrange for the same Marquee, the Walk in Fridge, we have a BBQ, and the Gene, but we need to know if you want to go. There was plenty of food, loads of drinks and plenty of cars to look at. Show and Shine is on the Friday this year, so those wishing to enter will need to be there on the Friday, I know the Scottish lot said they would come down, and all those there last year said they would come again, but we need people to want to buy tickets so we can start the planning in earnest. It as ever is about the members, so please come and post what you think about JAE last year, if you can / will attend, and more importantly are willing to pay up now. thanks in advance Tom 01. The show was good yeah, I was very disappointed at the way our club was ran. Like i said before we went last year, it sounded more like a army camp than a good time. Everyone should bring a tent this time so people don't get chucked into the cold and dark. The good thing tho was the food, having a bbq was pretty immense and the weather was great. Certain decisions are out of Tom's hands and the more difficult decisions, Tom makes as no one else has the balls? Were you one of the three knobs who were nearly escorted off the club stand? You know, the ones who thought it was a booze free for all and then got gobby when you didn't like the response you got. They/you were asked to wait for the people who were supporting Hodge to come back before setting about the alcohol? It was about supporting the club but others seemed to see it as a way of setting about the drink while others were away. After I have justt heard from the missus about some of the dictatory stances that the organisers have taken with the club and support vehicles I will be retracting my claim of attending. Even though I think I am Yes you were the guy who brought the guy who was so drunk that he was refused anymore alcohol. And as the organizer I have to make tricky decisions. That is why I have a team of Moderators and friends who assit me. In the case of the alcohol being stopped whilst every one supported Hodge that was my call. In the case of someone being too drunk then yes I requested "Steve" who was the senior Moderator present to look into it and if he agreed with my call to advise your friend he could not have anymore alcohol. The Friday night, I was not the one who pulled the plug it was the security team, who requested the generator be switched off, and this therefore precluded the Friday night, I take your points and hope to ensure this does not happen again. JAE is the potential for the biggest event of the year. Ian (our cook) has confirmed. As have a number of people who went last year. I am expecting quite a few more to attend this year. Edited: No it wasn't Lamboyello, neither of us know who the 3 people are, we were some of the last people back to the Marquee after the award's bit as we went for a walk to have another look about. hodge Posted April 9, 2012 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Very well organized I thought. Tom did a 1st class job and I'm looking forward to this year. Tom has a BIG personality, you either love him or hate him. When we first met, many years ago now I didn't like him in the slightest, first impressions and all that. After spending the weekend at JAE last year I couldn't have been anymore wrong. What a top bloke he is. Couldn't do enough for the members, making sure everyone was fed and watered all weekend round. This was the 1st show I've done with the club and I enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone was more than friendly and I never stopped laughing all weekend, apart from when my mouth was full of food that is. Made some great friends last year and hope to make a few more this year too. I'll Most definately be there unless my car goes bang on the Dyno, at it's next session, but let's hope not ehh lol.
