Hi guys I have abit of a problem not sure if it's anything to worrie about?

Ok I'm keeping my car locked away at my unit for the winter but I have to drive it in and out every night so I can use the unit. So the car only gets started for about 1-2 minutes then switched off this happends twice a day. But twice this week when I've started it, it has had quite abad missfire and sounds lumpy! It clears away after around 4mins and she sounds healthy again :).

Could this be because it's not getting a run out and is only getting started up and shut off when it's still at its fast idle stage?

Thanks for any advice :)

I'd take the plugs out and check them, running a car for such short periods, especially on cold start will make it run like a bag of spanners. Had exactly the same with my Escort RS Turbo. Was at a mates garage, he had to take it in and out every day, plugs just got fouled up and it didn't run right.

you should let your car warm up in the morning, id leave it for around 5mins and maybe even take it up and down the road a little bit.

turning it on for 1-2mins twice a day wont do it any good without giving it a run, id give it 5mins or atleast until the temperature gauge is in the middle so shes fully warmed up

Had something similar on my Celica. Started up, rolled out the garage and switched off. Cleaned the car then started up again and went back in the garage. It couldn't start the next day. Didn't know what was up so had my home start recovery out and he got it going by flooring it while starting the engine. Think the engine got over fueled so needed more air to get going again. Was fine after a 30 minute idle or a good blast.

I was just abit worried incase it was somthing abit more serious, well I think I might have to start driving it again hopfully the snow will stay away!

Cheers guys ;)
