starting issues? turn key and it clicks but takes a few times to start?

Hi, ie had a problem with my supra for a few months now where you turn the key and it clicks but the engine doesnt fire up. You might try another few times and then it starts as normal. Sometimes it will be in the middle of starting up and then fail so you have to try again. Ive noticed that it is less likely to do this if the car has been running i.e I stop to get petrol so turn off engine for 5 mins whilst paying then go back to the car and it starts no probs. Its basically when its been left overnight or left during the day when im at work.

As im worried that this may get worse, would you know what part I need to replace?

sounds like the starter motor might be playing up. Fairly easy to take out if you know basic machanics.

You can buy new from Mr T or get it refurbed

if it turns over strongly when it's not clicking ie the batterys fine then it points towards the classic starter motor contact being worn and yes it will get worse. Upside it's a pretty easy/cheap fix....er what fastcar said!

I have replied in your wanted advert, just to add I have genuine repair kits in stock, too, should you wish to change the contacts yourself.

Having had a look, I may be best to just change the whole thing but will have a look at your post now.

Change your battery first, chances are it will fix it - it fixed mine and it continued to work for a year+ afterwards.

Really? The battery is only 8 months old and has a full charge?
