keron Posted January 18, 2012 Share Posted January 18, 2012 toyota discontinued the original oil which came in 1ltr cans, they replaced it with auto trans red oil! everytime my dealer cross ref it, its comes up with the same they use on autos! i stock the royal purple stuff, prob the best ive found tbh. loads cheaper than the original too... SteveC Posted January 18, 2012 Share Posted January 18, 2012 I've found that Royal Purple Synchomax is an excellent alternative to V160... and I'd go as far as to say that if anything, the RPS gives a slightly better gearchange - and it wasn't as though I was expecting any improvement. I used the part numbers listed on here and gave them to the dealer, they ordered it no problem. I even came across some car related shops that keep it on the shelf. dude Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 The gearbox is made by Getrag and is the same internaley as the Skyline, both Nissan and Getrag say Dexron 2 or better, always have, its only Toyota who decided to rip their customers off.
