Is there any restrictions with replacing bolts, nuts, washers with Stainless Steel ones? I know that dress up parts are fine, but can you do it on stress bearing components like subframe bolts or suspension? I am refurbing these parts on my TT and dont want to make a dangerous mistake!!

If you are replacing high tensile steel parts, you need to make sure these are replaced like for like.

If you replace them with normal stainless steel they will look very nice, but will not have the required material properties and are likely to break under any significant tensile/ shear strain etc.

Brake components are a good example of this, if you have ever worked with discs and bells the components/ fixings are high tensile steel, not normal steel.

Although to the untrained eye wouldn't look particularly different, you have been briefed/ warned. :D

I hope this helps.
