Syvecs owners (knock sensors)

Am I right in thinking the Syvecs doesn't use the 2 stock knock sensors and only uses the it's own aftermarket sensor I fitted that I bought with the Syvecs.

If not I can remove the sensors from the engine and cut the connectors and wiring out the loom. A little less clutter under that Plenum

I asked about what I could remove from the loom and the knock sensors weren't mentioned John. I think the ECU still uses them as the aftermarket one is a wideband sensor, the 2 stockers are narrow band. I think the 3 of them together are a complete setup.

Just to confirm the knock sensors are the 2 sensors with the BIG hex nuts arnt they ???

Yeah 2 hex nuts with the connector sticking out the middle. Just under 2 and 4 on the block IIRC.

Will these need bunged up?

No they don't go right into the block. There 1/8 NPT threads that just screw into the casting IIRC.

Nice post. Good to know. I will remove them from my block and loom too!!

Will probably get something to bung the holes so they don't rust out and I wouldn't want to paint into the threads incase they are ever needed.

Edit - Out of interest where have you positioned your new knock sensor?

If it's not to late can you delete them out of My loom too?

Just below the head on cylinder number 4. And M8 thread around there will do.

So surely you need to run another wire to the syvecs if you cut out the stock knock sensor wiring? Why cant the stock loom be used as I thought you could get an adapter to convert the stock ecu plugs to the syvecs.

The problem is, the stock loom is odviously very old, and IMO, for the nessessary sensors the Syvecs is using I would want brand new wires to illuminate any interference that might occour.

I made a full custom loom for my car, every added sensor had fresh wiring and all the wires that weren't needed wre removed.

Thanks John, understand now, so basically cut the wires near the ecu plug and run new ones to each sensor.

The Syvecs only needs 1 Knock sensor.

I've got pin outs for where the sensors go on the Syvecs plug if you want to run them direct.
